After considerable reflection, I have decided to change the focus and direction of my website. It is no surprise to those who follow me that my primary photographic focus is Street Photography. While I have always posted photos that I have taken on various street ‘walkabouts’, my website has really been little more than a photo gallery. Nowhere has this been more true than the blog page of this website or, as I call it, the Photographers Notebook.
Effective next Monday, August 6, 2018, I am changing the focus of the Photographer’s Notebook to reflect more of a standard blog post. I will be posting weekly articles which will feature my take on photography, my choices in equipment, commentary on locations and my own growth as a photographer.
I will add new posts to the Photographer’s Notebook every Monday morning at 7:00 AM, Eastern time. Additionally, subscribers will receive an email notifying them of the new posts. Those notification emails will go out at 8:00 AM Eastern time on Monday. The delay from posting time is to accommodate posting delays from the automated system.
I will still post notes and commentary about significant photo shoots so that my followers can check out the latest photos in the galleries. However, this will no longer be the primary focus of the Photographer’s Notebook.
I have always maintained a photo gallery of Street Photography images. I have also posted such varied images as architecture, land and cityscapes, and photos derived from visits to public attractions and travel.
In the future, this site will be limited primarily to Street Photography. I will continue to maintain galleries dedicated to Louisville Architecture and the Louisville Waterfront. However, those will not be a primary focus.
The only exception to this focus will be in the event of unusual occurrences. For example, in February 2018, I posted several pictures I took during a massive flood of the waterfront area of Louisville. Cases such as this, I believe, merit a deviation from my normal theme. But, by their nature, such postings will be infrequent.
Additionally, there will be a ‘Featured’ gallery. Generally, this gallery will display images from my most recent photo shoot or shoots. It will normally remain in place for no more than a week or ten days. Images from the featured section will also be posted in the street photography or architecture galleries, as appropriate.
As with any change in direction, nothing is ‘set in stone’. I welcome comments from my subscribers and other followers regarding these changes. I also welcome suggestions on any other adjustments that you think would make this website more useful to you.
