On Saturday evening, April 9, the University of Louisville volleyball team hosted Tennessee for a spring scrimmage match. These matches give the teams a chance to play teams they normally don't encounter, with the opportunity to develop skills in a 'friendly' environment.
There are two referees, as in a regular match, but coaches can decide how 'tight' they want the match called. Additionally, some rules such as substitutions and rotation order might be modified by the coaches to give some flexibility in assessing players.
Additionally, while a running score is maintained for spectators to view, there is no official scoresheet or stat record kept for the match.
In this match, the teams played four sets, with Louisville winning three of them.
In college volleyball, my role is usually that of official scorer. However, since there is scorer used in scrimmage matches, I was free to take photos of the Louisville team in action. Those photos are posted under the Galleries tab.
